THE PANORAMIC ROUTE
SOLCAVA
The Solcava Panoramic Route is a circular route with some of the most beautiful views in Slovenia! Today is special as the sun is shining, and since I booked two nights at the Pri Rogovilcu guesthouse, I’m traveling light with just lunch and some snacks.
SERIOUS CLIMBING
The first part of the day involves getting to the top of a mountain. There are switchbacks, people chopping wood, small farms with pastures and cool climbing through forests. I like to stop often and notice my surroundings as this is six miles of rigorous inclines!
WHAT A VIEW
Tackling the rise in elevation was totally worth it! Colorful bee boxes, farming with a view and familiar dragons make it unforgettable!!
LOGAR VALLEY
As I go down the other side of the mountain I wish a had a GoPro. What a long, winding, graceful descent! I end up in the Logar Valley, also called Logarska Dolina, which is considered one of the most beautiful alpine valleys in all of Europe. My destination at the end of the valley is the Rinka Waterfall, which at 295 feet is the second highest free falling waterfall in Slovenia. It is also the source of the Savinja River.
It will be tough to top this route!
